Education Policy

MISF views its role in education policy as one of the organization’s most important. MISF provides updates, interpretations, and support to help schools navigate the full array of laws, school guidelines, education programs, and curriculum standards that affect K-12 nonpublic schools.

In addition, MISF works tirelessly at the state and federal level to advocate for “new” or changes to “current” policy to protect the independence and success of the nonpublic school system.

National School Choice Week 2017

On Tuesday, January 24, Minnesota parents and students came together at the State Capitol during National School Choice Week to help ensure that every student has access to a good education. Participants attended House and Senate committee sessions to hear testimony in support of the Equity and Opportunity Scholarship Act which will provide parents with resources to select a school of choice in Minnesota, and then attended a rally in the rotunda.

Your Voice at the Capitol

MISF’s strong and trusted voice at the Capitol ensures that independent and private school communities are included in the educational dialogue at the Legislature. As an advocate for independent schools, we promote universal issues to policymakers, while maintaining the integrity of each school’s unique mission. Together with our partner organizations listed below we advocate for school choice, believing that parents have the right to educate their kids in schools which best serve their needs.
