Good Shepherd School, Golden Valley
Nancy is a woman of great faith, dedication, and true spirituality. As a result of Nancy’s work, every first grader is able to read when they leave first grade. Nancy is always the first choice when student teaching supervisors assign a student teacher because they recognize her great ability. When past graduates come to visit the school, Nancy is the first one they go hug. According to Tom Zellmer, principal at Good Shepherd, “I have observed Nancy for over 21 years as a first grade teacher, and ... I believe Nancy to be the very best teacher I have had the opportunity to work with in my 44 years in education.”
Saint John’s Preparatory School, Collegeville
Charles teaches a demanding physics course to students in grades 9-12 and Theory of Knowledge, a course for the IB Diploma students at Saint John’s Prep (SJP). Because of his compassion and ability to successfully support students of all learning levels, students often leave his class excited about science and their success thus making his classroom a student favorite. His creative forces are also noticeable in many ways throughout the year at SJP. He created the “Smartest Advising Challenge” and “SJP Trivia Tournament,” and he coaches the SJP Physics Bowl team. Over half of the students that Charles has taught in his Engineering Physics course have gone on to study engineering or physics at 4-year universities.
